Let us introduce you to a young rising popstar - Mia Baron. Despite being at the fresh age of thirteen, she is focused and fearless, and if her fierce new single ‘Hide And Seek’ is anything to go by - a name to keen your eye out for in the next few months. She has a chat with us about her music.

Hey there Mia - how are you? So your debut single is finally here - how does it feel to have it out there in the world?
Hi, I’m good. It feels really  good to have my song out and have people get to know me and my story. I  hope a lot of people will  relate to my experiences. .

It is called ‘Hide And Seek’ - can you tell us what the track is about?
This song is about a time in middle school when everyone already had friends and I didn’t fit in and felt like I had no one. At lunch I would hide in the bathroom, not telling anyone that  I was alone and really hoping someone would notice and come looking for me.

Where are you from - and what is most famous for?
I was born in Montreal, but moved to Toronto when I was one years old up until today. I think what’s special about  Toronto, and in general, Canada, is  its’ multiculturalism. Canada is so diverse with so many different people from different cultures and all are accepted and celebrated. Another thing that Canada is known for is its’ lakes. In Toronto, my family and I spend every weekend on the lake and the scenery is so beautiful and serene.

What are your key influences when it comes to your music?
The influences in my music come from my own personal experiences, and wanting to express who I am and tell my story. My musical influences are Madison Beer, Ariana Grande, and the Weeknd.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never listened to your music before?
I would describe my sound as very Indie Pop, or Alt pop. .

Now the debut track is out - what next for you?
I have a few other songs that I plan on releasing this year, and I’m super excited for that. I’m looking forward to continue writing and working on more songs, and just continue having fun on my musical journey.
