Hong Kong-born and raised/ Melbourne-based singer and songwriter Alex Fasso returns with his new lo-fi indie single ‘Northside’. The new single is the lead track taken from Fasso’s upcoming EP ‘They All Look The Same’ which is slated for release on June 25th. ‘Northside’ is new territory for Alex Fasso, who has grown from his previous indie-acoustic sound to a more sleek production featuring 80s inspired synths and soulful vocal delivery. The track radiates a sense of nostalgia with its sampling of one of the most famous movie quotes of all time from the 1946 film ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’. Alex has made a name for himself on the Melbourne and Hong Kong music scene and is now looking to expand his reach and get his voice out there, sharing his stories and ideas with the world. He is inspired by artists such as Mac DeMarco, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Bon Iver.

My alarm goes off at 7am every morning, I then proceed to press snooze and sleep for a further 5 hours. The 7am alarm is my attempt at being a morning person but in reality I’m the furthest from it. I tend to be most productive at night, I’m not sure why but my body loves it.

The first thing I do is have a shower. The shower is the most important thing in my day. I could spend hours in there. It’s productive. I brush my teeth in their, answer emails, but mostly I write song lyrics in there. And now it’s come to the point where my body is so conditioned to writing in the shower that I struggle to write anywhere else.

My typical day involves a lot of time on my computer recording songs or experimenting with different sounds I’m testing out, and slowly but surely I get distracted and slowly migrate to YouTube watching videos of Phoebe Bridge's live sets and get captivated in awe.

The best part of my day is at night when I spend some time with my family sitting on the couch watching awful reality TV shows (and secretly being in love with them). But on the weekends you will find me down at the pub with my mates watching Australian Rules Football, screaming for my team the Western Bulldogs while taste testing the beer to make sure it’s not poisonous.

The worst part of my day is most certainly doing odd jobs around the house. Taking the bins out, cleaning dishes, doing my washing etc. I think that’s the worst part of everyone’s day, I mainly hate it because the time I spend doing that is time I could spend playing guitar or learning something new on Logic.

My day usually ends around midnight. I have another quick shower, then jump into bed, catch up on some BBC news and then eventually spend hours scrolling on tik tok being blown away by how talented and creative people are in the world. Honestly I get so inspired through tik tok discovering amazing new artist’s and new trends. It’s honestly amazing.

If I wasn’t a musician I would still be involved in something creative. Whether that’s be in advertising or writing, or even film production of some sort. I don’t think I could function in any work environment that wasn’t a creative one. I want to make something of my own rather than be a sheep in a field.
