Switzerland based artist MILYMA has just released her debut EP ‘321?’ via foundation.fm's new label, the classically trained pianist is the first signing for the label. She took a moment to talk to us about how the EP came together.

Hey there MILYMA, how are you? So your EP is out now, how does it feel to have it out there finally?
Hey I’m doing great thank you. I feel very relieved it was a lot of work which I carried with me. It is always a quiet emotional time to give these pieces of work kind of ,away’. But also the time before the release is mostly not the most creative one, because it is more about marketing and organizing, finishing last things etc. so I’m looking so much forward to go back to the studio and create music again.

It is being released via foundation.fm, how does it feel to be part of their family?
I feel honored to be the first artist and it is very exciting. A lot what happens is new to me which is interesting to see. The range of attention is bigger and I’m adapting myself to the situation as I’m more of a private person.

So it it called '321?' - is there a meaning behind that?
Not really, I chose 321? because of 3 songs and one kind of outro-song (?).

Where was the EP recorded? Any behind the scenes stories from the creative process you are happy to share with us?
The whole EP was only produced in my home-studio. This little home-studio means incredibly much to me to be free to work whenever I feel to. Hmm let me think BTS-stories there is nothing in my mind.

What are the key themes and influences on the EP?
In my process of making music a key-theme is more something that comes up when a song is done - so I didn’t choose consciously a key-theme. I like to leave the key-theme open to let it define by the listeners. I say this often that my music should work for itself.
When I produce and write music, I almost can’t listen to anything else but there are artists I need like Eartheater, FKA Twigs, Frank Ocean, James Blake. And there are always the influences of what is just happening around me/with me and what kind of emotions come up during this time.

Do you have a favorite lyric on the EP? If so, which one and why?
I like the lyrics from ,Days’ , because they are a bit different than the ones I normally write – it is a love-song to life - a simple listing of days and what I’m able to feel and do - and that I survive(d) every day.

Now the EP is out there, what next for you?
I plan to continue to write on my album.
