Let us introduce you to London based newcomer Neda, who has just released her debut single ‘Good Intentions’ - a bold anthem emphasizing the importance of knowing your self-worth. She took a moment to talk to us about her music.

Hey there Neda, how are you? So your debut track is out now, how does it feel to have it out there in the world and what is it about?
Heya, I’m good thanks! It feels great to have my debut single out. I was initially quite anxious about releasing and always found excuses to postpone things, but from the start of 2021 I decided to bite the bullet and just go for it :D I wrote Good Intentions during Uni when I was studying in New Cross. It's about knowing what you want from someone and being prepared to walk away if those feelings aren’t being reciprocated.

The video for the track was self-produced - what made you decide to make it yourself? Any behind the scenes stories you are happy to share with us from filming it?
I had a strong visual concept for the music video as soon as I wrote the song. I wanted to include different video formats and photos throughout the video and take inspiration from some of my favourite films. That’s why I had the motivation to make it myself and I’m over the moon with how it turned out. My sister directed the video, it was the first music video she’s directed and I think she was a natural!

Where are you based? What are your favorite things to do there?
I’m based in South London and have lived here all my life. South East has some really nice views of the city and I like going to places like Point Hill and Telegraph Hill and watching the sunset. There are some really cool independent music venues here as well like Rye Wax and Matchstick Piehouse.

What are your key musical influences?
My favourite songwriters are Dolly Parton and Lily Allen, I think they’re both really talented lyricists. 60s artists such as Brenda Lee, Roy Orbison and Connie Francis influenced the style of my first EP. When I listened to Connie Francis’ Gold album I immediately felt inspired to write tons of songs.

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never listened to your music before?
I would say it’s indie-pop with 60s country influences. I grew up listening to a lot of pop, so my songs will always have a catchy element to them. In my teens, I really got into jazz and country which made me experiment more and influenced my songwriting.

Now your new track is out there, what next for you?
MY DEBUT EP! Really looking forward to releasing my first project this November :)
