Inspired #295 - Issey Cross
London based fast riser Issey Cross continues to build the buzz surrounding her with new single ‘Tired Of Everybody’. She took a moment to talk to us about the inspirations behind the track and her music.
Who are your top three musical inspirations and why?
My top three musical inspirations would probably have to be Lorde and Julia Michaels for their lyrics and songwriting and ashniko for her style.
Is there a certain film that inspires you and why?
I love the Quentin Tarantino films as the colours are always so amazing and he always reflects it with the mood of the scene. When I write songs I can often imagine which colours it makes me think of and love to picture what the music video would be like.
What city do you find the most inspiring and why?
Even though I live in London already I think right now I find London the most inspiring as there’s so many great artists and producers to work with here. I also love La and can’t wait to go back there to write more.
Who is the most inspiring person to you and why?
The most inspiring person to me is probably lorde. She was my main inspiration for wanting to write songs when I was younger and I feel like without her music I may have not started writing my own.
What were your inspirations when writing your new track?
The inspiration behind the new track was coming out of lockdown and feeling like you're not ready yet mentally. It was just around the time that things were opening up and I could see my friends again but every time I would go out It would just feel too much!
How would you like to inspire people?
I just want people to be able to relate to my lyrics and to feel something special. Also as cringey as it sounds I want to show people you can do anything if you put your mind to it!
