Introducing #240 - Dolores Forever

Let us introduce you to Dolores Forever - who have just released their new track ‘Rothko’.

The band are already making huge waves, having only played five shows, two of which were at Glastonbury Festival this year. Melding infectious pop with indie and a touch of folk, the band are made up of close friends Hannah Wilson (from Yorkshire) and Julia Fabrin (from Copenhagen) who connected over their love of Mitski, Sharon Van Etten, Stevie Nicks, the Spice Girls and everything in between. They’re sure to be one of the break out acts of the year.

They took a moment to talk to us about their music.

Hey there Dolores Forever - how are you? So your track ‘Rothko’ is out now - can you tell us what it is about?
Hello! Rothko is quite simply about exes. We love to pick apart the minutiae of emotion and this song came out of discussing a couple of past relationships. That feeling of trying to convince someone of your fabulousness, and when they don't see it accepting they are just not your person. Sometimes that acceptance only comes a really long time afterwards though - hindsight and all that.

Where are you from and what are your favourite things to do there?
Hannah: I'm from Leeds! My favourite things to do in there are walk in Roundhay Park and eat at Sukhothai.
Julia: I’m from Copenhagen in Denmark, best thing is summer swims by the canal, with obligatory ice creams. Or going to Tivoli!

What are the key influences when it comes to your music?
We spend most of our time listening to Abba and Dolly Parton to be honest. We're obsessed with Mitski's new album. Don’t even get us started on musicals

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never listened to your music before?
Come for the chorus, stay for the outro.

Now the track is out there - what next for you?
We're gonna keep the new tracks rolling with 3 more coming before the end of the year! And we’re playing at Leeds & Reading Festivals and Neighborhood Festival in Manchester which we’re well excited about.
