Introducing #283 - Brook Fox
Let us introduce you to Welsh singer-songwriter Brook Fox - who has just released his new track 'Time' - a song that explores themes of love and the fleeting nature of time.
A unique blend of pop, folk, and country, “Time” features catchy hooks and an anthemic chorus that leaves a lasting impression. With emotive storytelling around themes of love and time, the track resonates deeply. Recorded at Sonic One and expertly mixed and mastered by Tim Hamill (George Michael), “Time” showcases my distinct talent for crafting songs that connect on an emotional level. The track’s production enhances its storytelling, creating a soundscape that is both intimate and expansive.
He took a moment to talk to us about his music.
Hey there Brook Fox- how are you? So, your track ‘Time’ is out now - can you tell us what it is about?
The hook is centred around the fleeting nature of time, as “time doesn’t wait for anyone”. The lyrics for “Time” are very emotionally charged. Upon writing, the lyrics pretty much fell out of the sky after falling in love, which is where I usually find my best lyrics originating from. The verses are very reminiscent of times I spent in love; however, the chorus is in the present, addressing that love head on being madly infatuated.
Where are you from and what are your favourite things to do there?
I’m from a small town called Burry Port in South Wales. I’m blessed enough to live on the coast, so I find myself on the beach quite often (weather depending), it’s even pictured in the artwork for the single! I’m also in the pub every now and again, nothing beats a community driven business where all sorts of characters and backgrounds come to light.
What are the key influences when it comes to your music?
I’d say I’m lyrically inspired by the likes of Van McCann, Gerry Cinnamon and Sam Fender. I love their way of telling stories from the first-person perspective but making them so applicable, making the tracks resonate, which in my opinion is one of the keys to making great music. Sonically I’m more pop and ear worm driven, where simple melodies and basic chords come together after writing the lyrics.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never listened to your music before?
A unique blend of pop, indie and country twang.
Now the track is out there - what next for you?
Follow up with more music of course! I want to chase the dream, that’s performing all over the UK. I have high hopes for 2025. I plan to play the track alongside other unreleased material at my future gigs, including festivals over the course of 2025. I’m ambitious yet confident I can land supporting slots, and a headline show locally in the coming months.
