The Band Explains: VALUES - 'Broken Nation'

Who: VALUES are a 5 piece melodic metal/hardcore band hailing from Leeds. They are: Nathan Baker (vox), Danny Widdowson (guitar), Chris Ward (guitar/vox), Jack Bhogal ( bass/vox) and Ryan Booth (drums/ vox).

About The Track:  'Broken Nation' is the title track taken from the band's debut EP which was released 19th Feb 2016 via Ghost Music.  What's really nice about  'Broken Nation' is that it features both heavy and melodic extended arrangements. There's a change of pace and style half way through  which gives the listener time to breath, before an almighty breakdown brings the track to a furious close.

VALUES Explains
"'Broken Nation' originally wasn't a part of the EP until after we finished recording. We really felt the track fit the EP's sound well and added another dynamic element to the 8 tracks that we felt was lacking and allowed the other tracks to encompass it giving greater context. 'Broken Nation' completed the message we wanted to give with the EP and converted those anecdotes in earlier songs into a more social message. 'Broken Nation' is ultimately a raw representation of our sound both instrumentally and lyrically."

The video is straightforward and the location isn't complex, we wanted people to focus on the message and our sound more than anything, but the video definitely captures the passion that goes behind our music. The derelict building we play in also pushes that 'Broken Nation' image that we wanted to give and we feel through that, the message is fortified whilst maintaining attack and power through the drums and guitars." - VALUES.
