We talk to Amanda Merdzan  about the ideas behind her music video for 'Glow'.

Who: Amanda Merdzan is a singer/songwriter/producer from Perth, Western Australia, and currently based in London, UK.

About The Track: Following on from 'Matter'‘Glow’ is the second single taken from Amanda Merdzan's upcoming EP.

From the sombre yet magnificent orchestral swells of  the intro of 'Matter', to the spacious, minimal ebbs and flows of 'Glow', Amanda  Merdzan's dreamy, billowing vocals and touching production echo from a confident yet unpretentious place. This is a thoroughly engaging artist leaving an ever-growing stir in her wake.

The Artist Explains:
Where was the video filmed?
The video was filmed by Try Hard Productions at LSH Spaces in Hackney, London.

How does the video compliment the song (if at all)?
The video presents itself in a rather serious, introspective and intimate tone. The artistic vision of director Alessandra Kurr captured the theme of the song by using a combination of visual elements, rather than focussing on a direct narrative.

Any behind the scenes stories?
My partner was on set with me and during one scene she suggested a few wardrobe changes (mostly removing clothing) due to my silhouette being undefined and hidden in the shape of the clothing. The result was me appearing naked, unintentionally conveying the idea of revealing a more honest and vulnerable version of yourself. I'm glad she was there to tell me to take my clothes off, almost always a great suggestion.

Tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?
The glimpses of me in the scenes work to conceal my identity, while the shots fade and pulse, matching with the flow of the song. The style of lighting used provided a focused way to create intimacy. This all ties in with the theme of self realisation and identity.

What is the message the video is trying to convey?

Working towards moving away from a dark and self destructive place.
