The Artist Explains: Lánre - 'Human' (Video)

Lánre is a British singer-songwriter whose music can be described as acoustic soul/ folk with captivating storytelling influenced by her Yoruba heritage. We spoke to the artist about the visuals for her single ’Human’taken from her most recent EP, 'Human'.

The Artist Explains:
Where was the video filmed?
Last Shot studios in North London

How does the video compliment the song?
I think considering we had a very small budget to work with, the video came out really well and very suited to the vibe of the song.

Any behind the scenes stories?
We used a lot of dry ice to get that smoky look that I was thankful I don't have to sing for a couple of days after as my throat was so dry but what won't I do for the sake of the art eh?

Tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?

Jendella Benson the video director and I discussed the use of light and shadows as a metaphor for the human experience and I think she did an amazing job of telling the story beautifully

What is the message the video is trying to convey?
Same as the song, that the story that we tell of your experiences should be rounded. That's what connects us all. We are more alike than different.
