The Artist Explains: The Beach - 'Bite My Tongue' (Video)
Having recently released his new single 'Bite My Tongue' singer songwriter The Beach speaks to us about the visuals for the track, shot in Barcelona during La Merce 2016, featuring the famous Castells (Human Towers).
If you're looking for engaging lyricism and a huge indie pop sing along hook, 'Bite My Tongue' is the perfect blend of rousing organic and electronic elements you're after - bringing an early taste of summer to us in colder climes.
The Beach Explains:
Where was the video for 'Bite My Tongue filmed?
It was filmed at La Mercè festival in Barcelona, Spain.
How does the video compliment the song?
The song is about saying something in a relationship that you instantly regret and not being able to take it back. I think the video captures the raw emotion of that feeling with the festival-like fireworks, dragon people hitting drums and human towers falling.
Any behind the scenes stories?
Thunder and lightening and heavy rain started just as the main parade was about to start which meant that it might have been too dangerous to commence the fireworks parade. Luckily for us the ‘dragon people' held a vote and everyone voted to let the parade continue!
Tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?
We used the festivals activities and all the colour and excitement to express the energy we were after. People hitting drums, fireworks, human towers and people's reactions to all of this happening.
What message do you hope people take away from watching the vid?
I hope that people will feel a sense of escape when they watch the video and connect with the energy it omits.
