The Dillinger Escape Plan @ Concorde2, Brighton (26/01/2017)
The Dillinger Escape Plan headlined a sold out Concorde2 for the Brighton leg of their farewell tour and boy did they go out in style!
Before I get onto Dillinger, I need to give credit where it is due to support act Ho99o9. These guys tore Brighton apart, causing carnage and chaos amongst the sold out Concorde2 crowd. Ho99o9 treated us to a new breed of heavy hip hop coupled with one of the most energetic performances I've ever witnessed. The band went down a storm and I'm expecting big things from them this year.
The Dillinger Escape Plan then came to the stage. Never before have I shared the photo pit with so much security, but now I see why! 30 seconds into track 1 and the barrier was down, arms were flailing and a sea of people came crashing towards the stage like feeding time at the zoo. There wasn't enough security on the planet to stop Brighton giving Dillinger the send off they deserved.
I then witnessed what can only be described as the rise of the superhuman and the next phase in evolution. Dillinger's guitarist leapt from the back of the stage and landed a third of the way into the safety mat of a crowd. If the US Olympic team are looking for a new long jumper, stop looking because he's right here.
All in all this was one of the craziest shows I have ever been lucky enough to shoot. Dillinger brought the roof down and left a trail of destruction behind them. This is one band that will stay with every single person in that room for a long long time.
