Festival Preview: Teddy Rocks Festival, 28th-30th April 2017
Everyone gets excited for festival season, but summer is still a fair amount of time off; thankfully the exciting Teddy Rocks Festival is turning up to the party early just down the road from Bournemouth and Poole between 28th-30th April.
Teddy Rocks is returning in 2017 to continue to raise money for Children’s Cancer research using good o’ fashioned rock and roll( plus a few other genres chucked in to the mixture). It will be its sixth outing as a fully fledged festival, but after last years astounding success of raising over £42,000, teddy rocks has decided to uproot and move to the bigger and better Charisworth Farm for their exciting 3-day festival!
This year over 100 bands will play over the 4 different stages across the festival ground, from some pretty serious headliners such as Twin Atlantic to some impressive tribute bands; there’s something for everyone across the weekend.
We delved into the array of bands that Teddy Rocks has to offer this year and picked out (what we think) you should be going to check out this April:
Blood Youth
Blood Youth are a melodic hardcore band from Harrogate, UK; combining catchy pop punk chorus’s with extremely heavy and dynamic breakdowns. Their 2nd EP ‘Closure’ definitely brought the band a lot of attention, with the title track ‘Closure’ and ‘Mood Swing’ being the 2 stand out songs with huge guitar riffs and strong, passionate vocals layered on top of every tune. With their debut album ‘Beyond Repair’ coming out on April 7th, just a couple of weeks before Teddy Rocks, you will definitely be wanting to go check out these guys to see them lay down the new fresh tracks. A one to watch for the year to come!

Modestep
Headlining the Saturday night, Modestep are not a band you want to be missing at Teddy Rocks. Coming into serious popularity with their debut track ‘Sunlight’ back in 2011 when it hit the UK charts at Number 16, the boys from London have continued to progress in popularity and musical depth. Dropping their 2nd album ‘London Road’ in 2015, such songs as ‘Machines’ and ‘Rainbow’ being the fan favourites, the heavy bass and intense electric guitar riffs blend perfectly throughout. If you thought that the heavily electronic based songs would be lost when performed live, you would be completely wrong, Josh, Tony and Pat have created a phenomenal live show combining live drums, guitars and synths to seamlessly perform every face melting track!

For Fans of: Pendulum & Enter Shikari
Tigress
This edgy 5 piece band coming straight out of Chelmsford, have had success from the starting line, playing Warped Tour UK, supporting Metro Station and even having their own almost sold out tour. Singer Katy Jackson is an incredible front-woman, switching between getting the crowd going mental to getting their lighters out for a slow song in mere seconds. Bringing out their debut EP just last year, Tigress are already looking forward by scheduling in a new EP ‘Like It Is’ which is said ot be released in May. This band has already done big things, and look like they are going to continue on that path, definitely catch them at Teddy Rocks; next year they could be playing somewhere a lot bigger.

VANT
Listening to VANT for the first time feels like you’ve been listening to them for years, they have a very nostalgic feel to their sound; Dreamy guitars, heavy hitting drums and well sung and thought out lyrics all blend perfectly to create some top notch music. VANT just released their debut album ‘Dumb Blood’ in February, which got raving reviews from radio presenters Annie Mac and Zane Lowe, personal favourites include ‘ Karma Seeker’ and ‘Parasite’. VANT are playing just before Scouting For Girls on the Sunday of Teddy Rocks, which is a pretty high spot in the lineup, so you know they are a band to be checking out!

For Fans of: Kasabian and Nirvana
To Conclude, Teddy Rocks may not be the most well know festival but it soon will be if it is putting out lineup’s like this. The added bonus is that the money that is made at the festival is donated to Childrens Cancer Research which I think is a very noble cause! Tickets are selling out pretty fast, so if I was you, I’d get mine before they are all gone; you don’t want to miss this festival!!!
