The Band Explains - Hometruths - 'Genocide' (Video)

Manchester musical activists Hometruths speak to us about the music video for their new single, 'Genocide'. '
Genocide' is taken from the band's debut EP  'Open Your Eyes', set for release on 3 March 2017 via CI Records, The track  is a frenetic, hard-hitting 3:19 seconds of in-your-face hardcore, where the band's outspoken disappointment and anger at the wealth, corruption and greed in government is fully emphasised.

Hometruths Explains:
Where was the video for ‘Genocide’ filmed?

‘Genocide’ was filmed in a warehouse in Manchester.

How does the video compliment the song?
The song is fast paced and is over in under 3 minutes. So rather than trying to fit a story through cut scenes in that amount of time we decided to create a riot scene behind us as we played. There a lot going on, it’s hectic and a lot to take in, in a short space of time so we think that complimented the song perfectly.

Any behind the scenes stories?
‘Genocide’ was filmed in the same place as our first single as ‘Feral’. ‘Feral’ is the first song off our EP ‘Open Your Eyes’. We see ‘Feral’ as a catalyst to the rest of the EP, fast forward to the last song on the record, ‘Genocide’ where we have amassed a crowd of followers to join our cause.

Tell us about the idea/ themes/ imagery used?
Like we said we wanted to create a fast paced setting to complement the song. We did this by creating a riot scene. This backdrop links well with the meaning of the song.

What is the message the video is trying to convey?
We see out band as a movement, ‘Genocide’ represents progression in our cause and the message we are trying to convey.
