Band of the Week: Born Stranger #0007

This weeks Band of the Week is Maddox-Jones and Raife Hacking, otherwise known as Born Stranger, they are a duo that together craft electronic pop that dares to push boundaries with their intrinsic futuristic edge. The band name is self-explanatory and justified at that; the group are simply born stranger. 2016 being their into their career saw them release their first three singles ‘Fire & The Flame’ and 'Be Someone' which garnered some great online support and to play their debut show at the legendary London music venue KOKO, alongside April Towers.

While their first release of this year, 'Cheating Love' that was a collaboration with the alt-pop songstress Caitlyn Scarlett, picked up a lot of Spotify playlist and blog attention. Their newest single ‘Generation’, features the powerful vocals from Louise Setara. The song is a view of the world's political landscape. Emphasising people may be lost or disheartened but what keeps the young generation thriving, is self-belief. Resembling the boldness in the lyrics, this single stands definitively with the duo’s signature vocal-hook manipulation and its radiant combination of house production and contemporary pop songwriting style.

The band are playing their next show at one of the most exciting, emerging-artist focused festival; The Great Escape Festival. The duo is playing at The Richmond on the Friday 19th, seeing how the band can move from their debut show at KOKO to playing here is no short feat. Be ready for their emergence.
