Camden Rocks Festival: Top 5 Bands To Check Out (2017)

Camden Rocks returns this June, with the likes of Feeder, The Coral and The Rifles plus many more playing over 25 venues across Camden. The festival is forever expanding, taking over the famous Koko this year for the first time. Every year it gets better and better, last year we saw the likes of Heck tear apart The Monarch, the start of the Creeper frenzy at Camden Barfly, and the Cribs turning Electric Ballroom into complete chaos. However it is also a breeding ground for the bands of the future, with many news bands starting on the stages of the Camden Rocks before they go on to be the next Libertines or Oasis.

With over 250 bands to choose, we thought we would help you out and give you our top five bands at the festival.

Asylums

We caught these guys last year, and they are back. Asylums fuse grunge with 90s pop, and it certainly creates a noisy combination.

Weirds

This band is well...Weird! Obviously. Fusing effect pedals and raw vocals, we can see these guys being what Heck were last year for us. Absolute madness on stage.

Courage My Love

Courage My Love were first discovered at a 2010 Battle of the Bands in Stratford, Ontario, where they had a more pop-punk vibe to them. But new album Synesthesia sees a much more mature sound, providing the same sounds to the likes of PVRIS and Paramore. We can see these guys being the run away hit of the weekend.

Panic Island

Local boys Panic Island take to the stage for the first at Camden Rocks, with their hard hitting rock and roll guitars and violently addictive sing-along vocals. If you like to support local new talent these guys would be the best place to start at Camden Rocks.

Yonaka

Fresh off a tour with Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Yonaka are our buzz band for the festival, we reckon this will be the band to make sure you get down early to purely get in the room, because there will be a queue. Fusing raw bluesy sounds with hypnotic PJ Harvey style vocals, these guys provide an intense live performance experience.
