Festival Preview: Truck Festival - July 2017

Picture an idyllic stroll through the Oxfordshire countryside, the birds are chirping, the summer sun is beating down on your head; nothing could be more peaceful. Then suddenly you hear a roar of guitars, drums and bass coming from just over the hill! What could it be? None other than ‘The Godfather’ of the small festival scene; Truck Festival!!!

Coming out of the picturesque Cotswolds countryside, Truck Festival has been bringing music lovers the biggest bands and the freshest emerging talent the scene has to offer since 1998.

Being the 20th Anniversary; with more and more incredible names being added to the line-up every week its hard to keep track of who’s playing? Who I should check out? who’s going to be huge in the coming months?

Thankfully we’ve been kind enough to filter it down for you to a mixture of rising stars and already established bands that will turn your good weekend into an incredible one!!

High Tyde

Brighton based band High Tyde have an infectious sound filled with uplifting vibes and great energy. The young and passionate Indie-Tropica four-piece were named as one of THE bands to watch by BBC Introducing. High Tyde sound like a mix of Two Door Cinema Club, Foals and The 1975; with every new song they release spawning another summer anthem; our personal favourites being ‘Glow’, ‘Piece of Paper’ and ‘Keep On’! A definite one to watch for 2017.

Jagwar Mar

Jagwar Ma have quite a way to travel to get to Truck this year, coming from the scorching down under, this Australian psychedelic indie band are still hot off the trails of releasing their second full length album ‘Every Now & Then’ which brought them even more popularity than they had accumulated from their debut. Jagwar Mar’s live show embraces a range of genres from funk, dub and techno, to garage rock and psychedelia - to come through in the end with a sound and performance that is uniquely their own.

Tom Grennan

Bedforshire born singer/songwriter Tom Grennan first found mainstream fame when he featured on Chase & Status’s track ‘When It All Goes Wrong’, that first premiered as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record in the World! Since then Tom has been touring all over, showcasing his two EP’s in the run up to the release of his debut album. His inclination towards blues and soul can be heard on his debut EP, Something In The Water, it really shows off his raspy and emotive vocals.

Will Joseph Cook

Being one of Truck’s youngest acts across the weekend, Will Joseph Cook continues to amaze everyone! The continuous popularity of Will's first two EPs has lead to over 8 million streams on Spotify alone, and having just released a banger of a debut album ‘Sweet Dreamer’ his signature cocktail of pop hooks, richly characteristic lyrics and astounding inventiveness is soon to set him on course for even bigger things. Will is one of those acts that 5 years down the line when he’s headlining festivals, you will be wishing that you had checked him out a lot sooner!

Husky Loops

Husky Loops are a one that not a lot of people have yet to experience; their swerving riffs and unconventional arrangements are not to be missed though, Husky Loops have a sound that's hard to pin down, but that kind of experimentation is what is so attractive about their unique sound! With their love of changing the tempo extraordinarily quickly, Husky Loops will keep you constantly on the tips of your toes and then also busting some crazy shapes all at the same time. If you want something a bit different from your run of the mill rock n roll, Husky Loops are the band for you at Truck!

There you have it, our round up of the best acts Truck Festival 2017 has to offer! There are countless other bands that could have been included in this list as Truck’s line-up is bloody jam packed with golden acts, but alas only a mere few could be picked out. Take this as a starter for your Truck experience, there’s more out their for your main and pudding… we promise!!!
