Live Review: Simple Plan - Kentish Town Forum, London 09/06/2017

Canadian emo rockers, Simple Plan, brought their pumped up energy to London’s Kentish Town Forum in front of a a sold out crowd as part of their ‘No Pads, No Helmets.. Just Balls’ tour. What makes a good punk show? Loud guitars and beach balls. Well that is the Simple Plan way of doing a show anyways.

It was when the emo rock scene was at its peak that the album was released back in 2002, now in its 15th year is still considered by some as the bands’ most accomplished piece of work. The audience erupt as the opening riff to 'I'd Do Anything' breaks and the rooms fills into a mass sing-a-long, with tracks like ‘The Worst Day Ever’ and ‘You Don’t Mean Anything’ following.

An encore of tracks from the bands wider back catelogue included; “Shut Up’, ‘Jump’, ‘Your Love Is a Lie’ and now an emo anthem sing-a-along ‘Welcome to my Life’. Simple Plan have been around for a while now, over fifteen years, but judging by tonight they have no plans on stopping, with a night of heavy guitars, stage dives and Co2 canisters, and plus the fans. It has always been about them for the band.

“We started making music 15 years ago and we’re going to keep making music and keep playing shows, because of you.”

Lets hope Simple Plan go for another fifteen years, and we see them at the thirty year anniversary.
