Single Review: The Van T's - 'Bittersweet'

Having risen from the Scottish music scene last year, The Van T's gone on to support the likes of Wolf Alice and Jesus and The Mary Chain, headline the BBC Introducing stage at T In The Park, along with the support from Radio 1. Consisting of twins, Hannah and Chloe Van Thompson (Vocals/Guitars), Joanne Forbes (Bass) and Shaun Hood (Drums), the group seem to infect everyone who hears or sees them with their surf ridden riffs and pop harmonies.

Their newest single, 'Bittersweet', is equally as encouraging as their previous releases, crashing into the song with a chunky intro, The Van T's take you on a heavy almost grungy build until they throw in your face a poppy chorus worthy of 60s girl groups but with a punk rock edge to it.

We can completely understand now, with their latest release how they have got where they are. Supporting bands like Wolf Alice, you certainly need to have the power to back it up. 'Bittersweet' certainly proves that, it is in your face and completely raw in dirty grit. The Van T's have certainly given us a taste of what is to come from them, and we shall definitely be keeping a close eye.
