Single Review: Me and The Moon - 'Standing Still'

Bathe in the glow of Surrey based indie pop trio Me and the Moon's new single, ‘Standing Still’, out now via our friends at My Little Empire Records

Ensconcing a sound that transports its listener back to the mid to late 00's British indie pop scene, 'Standing Still' glides along with a feverish appeal for anyone who spent their teenage years/ early 20's in nightclubs dancing to the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, The Mystery Jets and Bombay Bicycle Club.

While that decade of music was somewhat lacking in female fronted vocalists of this genre, Me & the Moon's lead singer Tamara is a breathe of fresh air. Her gorgeous, indie folk tone combined with the glistening, spikey, indie pop instrumentation is utter bliss and ultimately shifts the band into a Lucy Rose 2012,  'Like I Used To' album feel. Although in this instance, decisively more upbeat in nature.

‘Standing Still’ effortlessly condenses its huge appeal into just over two minutes of rousing, cheerful sensibility, thematically skating around the fear of life's uncertainties and feeling directionless and vulnerable, yet ultimately realising there's no use in standing still, "we must be alive tonight".  Offering the perfect motivational tonic we all need from time to time, to let go and just live our best lives, the way only we know how.
