Single Review: Alexander Wolfe - 'Oslo'

London-based singer songwriter Alexander Wolfe shares his  wintry new single ‘Oslo’ a beautifully emotive song about love and loss.

With its stark, glacial production and subtle vocal manipulation, Alexander Wolfe channels some serious early Bon Iver on his new track, 'Oslo'. It's extremely hard to avoid the chill of his teeth chattering production which for me, echoes the aching loneliness displayed in the narrative and adds a sense of cold disconnection, which even feels as though it is mocking at times.

Despite the shivering feeling that exists within the beginning of the song, warmth seeps through within the heartfelt lyrics,  the affecting piano arrangements and within Alexander's vocal tone itself, as the passion and sincerity of the song's narrative keeps the cold at bay.

Speaking about the new single Alexander explains, “The song is about loss and grief. It’s about that feeling that comes with the realisation that a person you cared about is gone for good. It’s about not wanting to be deleted. Hoping that each of you left your mark on each other and that despite everything it was worth it.

‘Oslo’ is taken from Alexander Wolfe's fourth album that is due for release in 2018 and the single is out now through Dharma Records.
