Single Review: Tom Grennan - 'Sober'

Tom Grennan....one of Britain's best kept secrets, but recently we are struggling to keep quiet on him, when he keeps putting out bangers like his recent single 'Sober'.

The follow up to 'Royal Highness' gives us a more indie-pop to side to Grennan, with a foot stomping chorus to go with it. However, it sees us digging digging deeper into him as a character, as the lyrics deal with his relationship with alcohol.

I wanted to write about always getting really drunk. At one point in my life, I hated getting drunk, but I was always doing it, and the morning after I would always feel guilty. Then the next day I would get fucked up again. It's about me not letting myself get sober. Then it took this whole different twist. It's like a Bond song, and it's one of the only songs on the record that takes me on a rollercoaster.

With his debut album 'Lighting Matches' out in May, this single give us a taster of what to expect. 'Sober' sees him evolving from the singer-songwriter we all fell in love from the start, to the full blown artist that he is clearly growing into.
