Live Review: Jake Bugg - London Palladium 26/02/2018

To pull off a show at the London Palladium, you really have to be someone special, but to play the venue solely by yourself on a solo tour, really takes some courage.

Jake Bugg at the young age of twenty three, already has four albums under his name, and countless festival appearances. Despite his young age, the man doesn't exactly lack experience. He takes a sip of his drink after opening with “How Soon The Dawn”, and he says “I’ll have this because you’re all quiet and it makes me nervous.”

So is the London Palladium too much of a venue for him?

Once that first song drink goes down, Jake Bugg takes us on an adventure with tracks from the last three albums, including “Me and You”, “Trouble Town” and “Taste It”. His unique cocktail of blues, country and indie puts him in his own genre. There is only one Jake Bugg really.

To play such a grand venue, with just yourself on a stool and your guitar is statement within its own right, and shows that as an artist, Jake Bugg has grown into a man now and is comfortable in his art. And you can tell that from his performance.

We said in order to play London Palladium, you need to be someone special. We take that back. The London Palladium was made for people like Jake Bugg, because he is certainly that!
