Single Review: Glass Peaks - '(Don't) Ask Me To Dance'

Glass Peaks, a three-piece indie band from Kent, have just released their latest single ‘(Don’t) Ask Me to Dance’. Having a very progressive 2017 the un-signed band are currently DIYing their way to success. After hearing this song, I’m pretty certain their current ‘un-signed’ title won’t be sticking around for much longer.

‘(Don’t) Ask Me to Dance’ is a fresh approach to current trends in indie/alternative music. This song is a lot braver than their prior releases, with the band saying it’s “considerably more heavy, raw and honest” than anything they've previously put out. It creates a slightly uneasy feeling after listening, but one which only makes you want to listen again and again.

This song is sure to get stuck in your head, not particularly because it’s catchy, but more because you’ll end up listening on repeat. You won’t be able to appreciate it enough the first time around! The raw undertones and gritty lyrics will bug you in a way that makes you want to indulge even further into the world of Glass Peaks. ‘(Don’t) Ask Me to Dance’ is a song I can only imagine will go down a treat when played live, it gives off a powerful sound that can’t quite be described. Before you know it, we will be dancing to it in packed-out tents at music festivals.

Playing recent support slots with White Lies and Maximo Park, their sound sits similar to the likes of Foals, Spector and Jaws. With still only a few songs on Spotify, it’s hard to say what’s next for Glass Peaks, but hopefully 2018 will bring more songs like this one, a UK tour and perhaps some album news.

'(Don't) Ask Me to Dance' is out the 21st February 2018
