Artist Of The Week #0034 - Soccer Mommy

This week's Artist of the Week is Nashville's Soccer Mommy, who's new album ' Clean' is out today via Fat Possum.

Soccer Mommy, otherwise known as twenty-year old Nashville native Sophie Allison, release Clean is her first adventures outside her bedroom, following on from a series of Bandcamp DIY records and last year's Collection. It sees her using a full band in the studio, and with that has created a beautiful record with producer Gabe Wax (The War On Drugs, Deerhunter, Beirut).

“I’d never made a full album before, just EPs and random tracks thrown together. I wanted it to be a lot more cohesive than the rest of the stuff that came before,” explains Allison. “I wanted to make something that was a full piece of my life, that addressed similar themes and held together as a whole.”

And from that, we are given the gift that is 'Clean'

A record that takes you into Sophie's world, and certainly shows us the full capabilities of her songwriting, proving to us that she can move from bedroom recordings to a full blown artist.
