Live Review: Fizzy Blood - Camden Assembly, London 28/02/2018

Back in London, Leeds lads Fizzy Blood performed to a packed out room at Camden Assembly. Playing a fun and energetic set, the upstairs seemed to bounce along with the chaotic crowd. With support from Forever Cult and Mantra it was a night of pure rock galore.

Mantra took the stage first, bringing a raw alt-rock attitude followed by grungy Forever Cult, filled with ear-spitting, snarling vocals. After the singer merges into the audience screaming into the microphone, the room was on a high.

The swelling crowd began to grow in size, boosted by a number of faces keen to see what was to come next. Brimming with blaring melodies, catchy riffs and funky bass, its the sound of an ambitious band. Kicking off with ‘I’m No GoodFizzy Blood ran onstage with their renowned spirit and energy. As they teared through tracks such as their latest release ‘ADHD’ and ‘Patience’ the sound travelled through the wild audience, bringing it to life in thunderous fashion.

Set against red and dark lighting, Fizzy Blood ooze confidence with ‘Queen of Hearts’ and ‘Summer of Luv’. Meteoric synths ring around the venue, matched with spiralling guitars, intense rhythms and frantic hair flicks. It was clear to see that some fans evidently followed the band, shining through with their eagerness and vivacity.

Frontman Benji Inkley’s vocal ranges from the sensual and provocative in more angst driven ‘Haunted’ to the guttural screams and punk howls in ‘Pawn’. Quickly launching into heavy-guitars and crashing drums, the sound surges into a raucous crescendo that is rightfully smashed out. Bringing the audience to the floor, the room was at an anticipated standstill which was quickly broken by the harmonious roar of the many shrieks.

Naturally ‘Animals’ and the ever favourite ‘January Sun’ provides real highlights. Having the madness to excite and induce a pretty serious mosh pit, everyone was left breathless. Seeing the crowd lose all inhibitions Inkley shouts, “We’ll see you all again when we’re next in London yeah?
