Single Review: GRDNS - ‘Juniper’

‘Juniper’ is the second release from GRDNS’ upcoming EP and the psych-rock band are bursting out onto the scene. Heavily influenced by Tame Impala and Humbug-era Arctic Monkeys, the band have a sound that is reminiscent of The Stone Roses’ self-titled album combined with their own definition of psychedelia.

Vintage tones are seamlessly intertwined with indie guitar sounds, making this track one that puts you in the mindset of running barefoot across the beach in the being sun. The lead vocalist of the band, Jacob Lyons, explained that “it was the first song we got together as a full band and the lyrics frequently reference the colour blue and a few of its colour palette relatives. The meaning of the song is open to interpretation, like all the rest will be.”

New and fresh out of the northern city of Bradford, the quartet are due to be headlining a show at Seabright Arms in London on the 2nd of May and also have secure a set at Live At Leeds Festival on the 5th of May. We are looking forward to seeing what the rest of the EP will bring and where it will take GRDNS.
