Single Review: Lowes - 'Here We Are'
Emerging from the Lake District, Lowes have released 'Here We Are', a track that makes you get lost in yourself with it's atmospheric vibes. The Lake District, also known as the Lakes or Lakeland, is famous for its lakes, forests and mountains. A place where you can wonder and almost go missing, and you can feel that in this band's sound, however despite that sense of floating adrift in their music, you can tell that they know who they are.
This track builds as it goes on, starting off with a simple piano, oozing off those early Jess Glyne ballads vibes, but then it kicks in. It creates a location in your head, long panning shots of mountains and lakes, with that misty fog blowing over them. Then the drum beat hits you, taking you to a whole new place in your mind. It reminds me of the early Bjork albums, like 'Debut', that sense of innocence, while being completely mature at the same time, accepting that it is okay to be childlike.
This is the first track from their EP 'Elements' and what an introduction it is to them -
“'Here We Are' is about those times when you force yourself to stop for a moment, and recognise just where you are in a certain time and place. It felt like the perfect song for us to introduce ourselves, and our first EP, to the world. It’s about the calm and the wildness you feel when immersed in nature.”
Lowes are all about being young and creative, which the music industry needs at the moment, new minds thriving with creativity and not with just their music. Visually, their videos, and them as a whole. This band is certainly one of those, and we expect lots more of this with the 'Elements' EP, pure atmospheric pop music to get yourself lost to.
