On Tour With: Fine Creatures

Fine Creatures are currently on tour with Fangclub, we had a chat with them about touring and van life -

Are you excited about the tour? What is the best bits you look forward to when hitting the road?
We’re very excited about the tour! We’re looking forward to playing as many shows as possible as been itching to get out there and spread our music. We've released 3 singles from December till now, and can’t wait to show everyone what we can do! The worst thing for us is not being busy or going through periods of not playing shows.
We like travelling and discovering new places, and getting out of Brighton always gives us a fresh perspective. We’ve been up north to play festivals in the past, and have done our fair share of travelling over the years, but this will be our first proper tour. Our favourite parts of touring consist of, snacking.. consistently.. blaring music in the van and waking up in a new place every day.

What the main tour essentials you pack and why?
The essentials are:
- A lot of fresh pairs of socks!
- Shampoo
- Chocolate Digestives
And that’s basically everything..

What is your best tour experience?
On this tour we’ll be supporting FangClub and it’ll be our first support tour, and it’s extensive, so we already know it’s gonna be better than any other small tour we’ve been on.
We’ve had a lot of fun last year, driving up north to Manchester and Lincoln to play festivals. We also played the Great Escape in Brighton last May, which is always fun.
I have a feeling that this tour is gonna be a huge learning experience for us, and we won’t want it to stop once we get on the road.

What is your worst tour experience?
Worst experience we’ve had on the road, was probably when we played a show in London, and the mic kept electrocuting me and the drums kept falling forward. We were on this small stage and as the mic shocked me the drums kept pushing me back into the mic. It was funny, but was a packed show so it wasn’t all bad.

Who has the most disgusting habits on the tour bus? And what is it?
There’s always some sort of rectal gas going round.. but everyone’s a suspect. Otherwise we’re pretty clean and well kept.

What can we expect from this tour? Is there anything new in the set list?
This is our first time playing in some of these venues, so we want to play our best material we have. Some of which is our first releases, some are songs that are yet to come out. We love playing new songs, but we have to try and remember that a lot of people are only seeing us for the first time and haven’t even heard our first releases yet. So we need to be sensible about how we play our set at this stage. We try and play every show like it’s our last, no matter what the set is.

If you could tour with anyone, who would it be and why?
Probably the Rolling Stones in the Let it Bleed Era or straight after. The height of the hedonistic period in music culture seems quite enticing.. Either that or Zeppelin.
