Single Review: Nia Wyn - 'Turnstiles'
Nia Wyn has got us mega excited with her new track 'Turnstiles', which oozes an honest vintage charm. Her latest offering was produced by the legendary Paul Weller in his Surrey studio, and also features him on bass.
It tells a story of finding love in an unexpected place, and takes you on a flash back to the golden-era of music, and it tells you a lot about Nia Wyn as an artist. She grew up in a small town in North Wales, and found peace in old blues and soul records she found in junk shops, using them as muses to shape the sound she produces today. Her track 'Turnstiles' has that raw power to it, that makes your ears feel like they are on fire. Like when you hear Amy Winehouse's voice or when Florence growls at you for the first time. It is one of those voices that you know you have never heard anywhere else before, and your body feels it.
The fact that Paul Weller has put his stamp on Nia Wyn speaks for miles, the man who inspired so many in this genre, to not only produce her track but also feature on it shows us that this lady is someone we should be paying attention to. The Modfather has spoken!
This track by Nia Wyn is one of our favorite tracks this year, and certainly is the start of something wonderful for this girl, so keep your eyes and ears open for her talent.
