Echos - 'Saints'
North American duo Echos share their hugely evocative single, ‘Saints’, the latest instalment from their upcoming LP, ‘Even Though You’re Gone’ due for release December 7 via Seeking Blue.
To say that Echos new single ‘Saint’s is “evocative” is actually an understatement. Echos have delivered this monumental beast of a song that actually makes me physically shiver every time I hear it. Tal Richards and Lexi Norton have found a way for the song to to be heavily narrative-led transfixing its listener with Lexi’s compelling vocal and storytelling, yet also fully enthralled by the immensity of the production - from its subtlest touches, to its most crashing, thunderous cinematic layers.
At it’s most dramatic, the track could blow the gates off of heaven which are mentioned within the band’s clever play on religious imagery in its lyrics, as Echos address and calls out hypocrisy; “my dear you’re not so innocent, you’re fooling heaven’s gates so you won’t have to change, you’re no saint”.
With that in mind, ‘Saints’ also draws on haunting, ethereal touches in between its moments of tenderness which break up and tease those huge burst of soul-shaking dramatics. However, Echos never allow their listeners emotions to settle or stagnant at any point during this intricately crafted and exhilarating piece of music. ‘Saints’ really is a triumphant, genre-bending offering of epic proportion.
