She Makes War - 'London Bites'

Bristol based artist She Makes War has recently put out her absolutely astonishing tune ‘London Bites’. Immediately the music feels like a beautiful breath of fresh air with this very creepy, unsettling and ghostly sounding riff followed by a vocal you would expect to hear in a horror film but of course I mean this in a good way!

The song is based around vocalist Laura’s first time she moved to London at the age of eighteen and the struggles that came with coping living there and dealing with the people around her. I was surprised to read that Laura’s first boyfriend told her that she could not and should not sing, this is crazy because she most definitely has an impressive tone and style of writing. I love the composition of London Bites, it is not the usual disposable chart tune and has been given a lot of TLC before its release that is very clear to me when listening.

I also discovered that Laura is a producer which kind of makes a lot of sense as to the quality of the production on this track whether it was produced by herself I am not sure but in any case, I imagine she would take extra care listening before releasing her own music! I’m really looking forward to hearing more from She Makes War and checking them out live. If I could label She Makes War I would say that she is a modern-day Kate Bush because the composition and deliverance of the song feels very theatrical. Other comparable artists would be Bjork or Massive Attack.
