Beach Riot – ‘Good To Know (That I’m Still On Your Mind)‘

Beach Riot will certainly remain on your mind with their disgruntled fuzz pop.

‘Good To Know (That I’m Still On Your Mind)’ – the perfect soundtrack for the beach party you attend and realise you hate every other person there. The combination of frustrated noise and pop is a nod to Pixies and FIDLAR. But the subject matter of “broken relationships that linger in the dust” provides the melancholy that Dinosaur Jr projected so often in their songs.

The opening riff is Fall-like with the dirty scuzzy guitar riff on top of a booming and solid bassline, and the harsh high note guitar solo could have been played by Joey Santiago. Despite the chaos that lies in the fuzz, the popping staccato guitar lines that appear out of nowhere are classic indie pop riffing.

Vocally, the melodies are catchy and instantly infectious. The high notes of chorus seem to come out of nowhere and prick up your ears. ‘Good To Know…’ proves that Beach Riot are the next band to provide pop music that has a hint of anarchy and unpredictability. Exciting stuff!
