Norwegian singer-songwriter Amanda Tenfjord shares a blissfully honest cut of sophisticated pop on current single, 'Pick a Card’, taken from her debut EP, ‘First Impression’, out now via Propeller Recordings.

’Pick a Card’ opens with warm ambient textures that sets a mellow and relaxed tone for the song. When Tenfjord’s conversational, from the heart, vocal comes in the track takes on a new beauty tinged with subtle melancholy. Thematically, the track explores feelings of uncertainty and inner conflict when trying to choose which direction to take in life. Tenfjord tackles this theme with a maturity and grace that allows her listener to relate many of her lyrics to a multitude of circumstances, no matter what stage of life they may be at.

There’s a class and sophistication to the soundscape of the song as it introduces some gorgeous cinematic flourishes, acting to accentuate the emotion in the vocal and lyrical theme. Despite the sadder undertones in the lyrics, ‘Pick a Card’ is constructed to allow its listener to get swept away alongside the fluid arrangements and breathtaking beauty of the song’s production. It leaves room for its listener to feel a whirlwind of emotions, but ultimately leaves its listener feeling full and happy instead of empty and drained.

’Pick a Card’ is taken from Tenfjord’s four-track EP ‘First Impressions’ and sits alongside ‘Let Me Think’, the title track and ‘No Thanks’ which all show a more playful and thematically assertive side to Tenfjord’s sound. ‘First Impression’ is a very polished debut, introducing a very talented and intriguing artist. This is the kind of immaculately crafted pop-centric music which deserves to be enjoyed on mainstream radio across the entirety of the globe.
