GRAACE - 'S.O.S.' (Live Acoustic)

Australian singer-songwriter GRAACE strips things back on her intimate live recording of her latest single ‘S.O.S’.

In October, Sony Music signee GRAACE released her debut EP ‘Self Sabotage’ showing off six self-examining pop-leaning tracks polished to a very high standard. GRAACE’s influences span from R&B to soul, to electronic pop to hip hop, making ‘Self Sabotage’ an exquisite listen, more understated than embellished, and this is one of the many factors that makes it a deeply charming record.

Each track offers enough space in its production to allow GRAACE’s emotive vocal and ferociously honest lyricism be the main focal point. There is depth to the record as GRAACE maturely confronts some heavy feelings on the EP, but GRAACE’s matter-of-fact lyrical themes are often juxtaposed by a lightness and vivaciousness in each song’s arrangements, seeing organic and synthetic influences threaded together to provide an overall uplifting atmosphere.

In stripping away the electronic layers of ‘S.O.S’ and focussing on a beautiful piano arrangement to accompany her heartfelt, exposed, storytelling, GRAACE has allowed her listener in on an even more vulnerable side to her artistry. This live acoustic version of the track is both mellow and melancholic. There is a gorgeous, cathartic softness to the song that makes it very easy to connect with. This is a really lovely and personal way to round off what has been a very successful year for GRAACE, who has so much more to share with us all in 2019.
