Real Friends - 'From The Outside'

Popularly known as the Illinois Sad Boys, Real Friends release their new Pop Punk single ‘On The Outside’

Opening with an instant hit of fresh summer breeze, ‘On The Outside’ is ready to be sang by crowds throughout the US all summer long as Real Friends hit the road for the last ever Vans Warped Tour. It doesn’t take long before you’ll find yourself bopping your head to the cheery melody, and shortly after you’ll know the chorus by heart. ‘On The Outside’s bubbly and uplifting beat is quite a contrast to the lyrics once you begin to peal back the layers.

Talking about the lyrics, Dan Lambton (vocals) explains ”This song in particular addresses uncertainties pertaining to not knowing what may be good for you or in your best interest, whether it be medication, drugs, alcohol, psychiatric treatment, etc. and generally not being able to navigate the inner workings of your mind to know what is going on with your mental state."

For fans who remember the 2011 ‘This Is Honesty’ EP, the poppy influences from the likes of The Starting Line and Saves The Day, are very much prevalent, and very much unlike their past two studio albums, seeing the band move away from the away their wants to run away from their hometown and back to a much more easy listening vibe.

Catch Real Friends on Vans Warped Tour all summer long!
