Joseph J. Jones has today released his debut album ‘Built On Broken Bones Vol.1’, via Communion Records. He took a moment to talk to us about Frank Sinatra and good old London Town.

Who are the top three musical inspirations that inspire you and WHY?

Frank Sinatra - I was raised on his music. No one will ever do what he did.

I ain’t talking about the cheesy persona of that ‘a-ring-a-ding-ding’ shit either.  The sheer charisma of the geezer and the voice. Effortless. To me he’s timeless. He’s a major influence.

The Streets - I love Mike Skinner’s bang on observational writing and attitude.

The Streets is proof to me that you have to stay honest to yourself creatively.

Kanye West - without fail every album he’s brought out I’ve indulged in and he is constantly raising the bar. Kanye has and always will be an inspiration and I am hugely influenced by his work.

Is there a certain film that inspires you and why?

Drive inspired me a fair bit. A very cool movie. The music in that film was pretty mind blowing.  Kavinsky went to town on the production. So yeah I’d say Drive

What City do you find most inspiring and why?

Good old London Town. Multicultural musical beauty that she is. No where better.

Who is the most inspiring person in your life and why?

Both my mum and dad. My dad has always been a fighter but he’s extremely funny and a loving person. Mum’s as hard as nails. She gives it to you straight and I have the utmost respect for that.

Who would like to aspire to be?

No one but myself.
