Park Hotel - 'Make It Happen'

Park Hotel’s new single ‘Make It Happen’ is a glorious mission statement of optimism and potential. The track’s alt-funk groove fuses the Spanish sunshine of Barcelona and the cosmopolitan cool of London, the two home cities of founding members Rebeca Marcos-Roca and Tim Abbey.

Their closest sonic contemporaries are Aussie scene stealers Confidence Man, whose joyous genre blending debut blew the 2018 best album list wide open. Park Hotel capture a similar energy and sense of fun on this single, but with less of the cynicism of their antipodean counterparts. There’s a twinkle in their eye that’s uniquely their own and is bound to transform their live shows into disco dancing extravaganzas and the recording studio into Studio 54.

“You are more than just a woman, you are more than just a man, let’s make it happen” sing the two leads, their motivational lyrics turning into something of a band manifesto. If this confident, dancefloor ready banger is anything to go by, 2019 could well be the year for Park Hotel to take their own advice and make it happen.
