Press Club - 'Suburbia'

Australia has always felt a little more isolated musically than it should. That was until recently. The land down under has begun exporting killer acts like mad in recent years, with Press Club being one of them. The Australian punks have seen widespread acclaim from the likes of Radio 1’s Daniel P Carter and Kerrang. Soon they’ll be on their way to Europe for the first time to show audiences what they’re made of.

Before then we’ve got ‘Suburbia’, a bittersweet and nostalgic track. Be it a love song for suburban areas the world over or something else, it’s a great tune! Roaring choruses and echoing refrains. It’s a track to drive with windows down to in the summer, when that finally comes back around, it’s a track to jump up and down to. The video, a montage of suburban scenery, accompanies the track in spirit and feel. Nostalgic, big but maybe a little haunted around the edges at times. Tracks like Suburbia and previous Press Club singles make me very excited for their upcoming album, Late Teens, and also jealous of whoever gets to catch them on tour.

The band will indeed be embarking upon a tour of the UK in April. If you can get out to a date on the tour I would recommend you do, seeing a great punk band in smaller venues for the first time in this country is an opportunity not to be missed.
