Jerry Williams has cemented herself as one of the most exciting musical prospects in 2019 with her highly emotional, honest single ‘David At The Bar’.

The 23-year-old finished 2018 by signing to Royal Mountain Records, Big Picnic Records, and Ferryhouse Records in Canada, US, and Europe respectively. Williams is hard at work on her debut album, expected for a September release, but in the meantime, we are treated to a single that tells the hard truths about alcoholism and a man’s struggle with sobriety. As soon as I pressed play I was instantly reminded of artists such as Nina Nesbitt and Gabrielle Aplin, but Williams stands on her own and that is down to her refreshing storytelling and the attention to detail put into the lyrics.

A chance encounter at a bar is turned into a heart-breaking tale of a man who wishes Williams a good life, but is struggling with his own demons and thinks he’s wasted his life, despite having a baby on the way. “’David At The Bar’ is one of the most honest songs I’ve ever written, each line is so true as to what happened this night when I just got speaking to this man at a bar.” Jerry explains.

This acoustic track is more a plea to ‘David’ to see he has a lot going his way, put across brilliantly by Williams’ delicate vocals and atmospheric production towards the back end bringing a truly powerful conclusion.
