half•alive drop their new single ‘arrow’, alongside a video for the track following their breakout hit, ‘still feel’ showing why they’re a band who are very easy to get hooked on.

half•alive are one of those bands that you probably haven’t heard of yet but are guaranteed to be on the lips and hips of every indie pop-rocker pretty soon (or at least I hope so). The trio hail from Long Island, CA and bring together slick beats with falsetto-inflected chants that make you feel like jiving at a summer festival or dancing along the street. If their first two tracks from their new album are anything to go by, this band has a huge career ahead of them.

Their videos are electric, vibrant and are what every music video should strive to be. Their previous video took off with over 10 million views in two months and for a band that hasn’t even toured yet, impressive seems an appropriate description for what they have achieved to date, having been signed to RCA Records. It’s not surprising though, when you take into account their infectiously catchy tracks coupled with the cinematic glory of their videos.

Josh Taylor, lead singer of the band, is the director of the band’s video and Brett Kramer (drums) and J Tyler Johnson (bass) star in the video sans most of their instruments, but finding great replacements (bathroom tiles work great). The release of their two new singles follows their 3 song EP ‘3’ released in 2017 - it’s worth a listen, but their new stuff is definitely taking a more exciting and unique direction.

Their first-ever headlining tour starts later this month and includes a sold-out London show at Dingwalls on the 21st of February. If the band bring anywhere near the energy they have in their videos, half•alive’s live shows are going to be something truly special.
