Band of the Week #0064 - Tallies
This week’s Band of the Week is Toronto based four piece Tallies, who’s self titled album is out now via Fear of Missing Out Records. They took a moment to talk to us about couch essences and the best things about Toronto.
Where was the album recorded?
Candle Recording in West end Toronto, ON.
Any behind the scenes stories on the recording process?
It took only three hours to record drums and bass. Dylan, lead guitar, wanted his guitar to sound like his favorite food, lasagna. So he wanted to record as many layers as possible. Half way through recording, we decided the best course of action was to buy the studio a new couch. An album is not recorded without the essence of a good couch.
What are the ideas and themes behind the album?
We wanted to contrast an upbeat/ happy instrumentation with melancholic lyrics.
How would you describe it to someone in one sentence who has never listened to you before?
Pop music that’s light and dark at the same time.
What is best five things about Toronto?
- Candle Recording
- Dining Room Sound
- Dan Burke
- City Pool
- Sneaky Dee’s
