Kid Kapichi - '2019'

Do Kid Kapichi wish you a happy new year? Not likely.

Following the success of their previous single ‘Revolver’, support from Radio 1, and touring with the likes of Slaves; Kid Kapichi have returned with rage in ‘2019’. The band look towards the new year with animosity, for which they’re known, speaking for the voiceless on today’s social and political affairs.

Kid Kapichi stick two fingers up at what they’re fed up with in the world today, from awful television: “Flick the switch on my TV/They’re making porn out of poverty/They think it’s funny/It’s not funny”; to the government: “Tony the Tory’s got a hard-on for a hard-working civilian like you”. Musically, Kid Kapichi stick to what they’re best at. A booming bass riff in the opening, Kasabian-style hooks and quirky, electrifying guitar leads. With these combined, Kid Kapichi are creating great rock songs that are catchy and accessible for radio play, yet are intelligent with their lyrics and message for ‘the people’. You could almost compare them to The Clash with their approach.

2019 may look bleak for some of us, but Kid Kapichi have set the bar for great new rock bands. At least that’s something to look forward to.
