The Artist Explains: Harry Nathan - 'Alright'

Australian artist Harry Nathan chats to us about his quirky home made visuals for funky indie tune, ‘Alright’, which was directed by Odeya Rush and explores a love story between a sandwich and a croissant!

Where was the video for ‘Alright’ filmed?
We filmed the video in my kitchen with our best friends. Odeya was shooting and directing, whilst the rest of our mates were synchronising the movement of the puppets and the mini disco balls to Odeya's cues.

How does the video connect with the song?
We didn't want to do a traditional love story. Odeya originally had the idea of me making a delicious sandwich. We're always challenging ourselves to create concepts that excite us and it just grew from there. Sandwiches are a very fun food, so why not create a love story around that?

Do you have any behind the scenes stories you can share with us?
We had to learn a lot on the fly, controlling the marionettes/puppets is quite tricky.. Fishing line was our trusty friend throughout the shoot, it's how we opened the lettuce wings and made our little friend dance.

Could you tell us about the ideas/ themes/ imagery used?
Between Odeya and I, our tastes naturally gravitate toward the nostalgic and quirky. It reminds us of a more organic time. Sandwiches are a really fun food, so we wanted to explore a love story between a sandwich and a pastry. Love is love after all.

What do you hope people take away from watching the video?
That the food in their kitchen potentially comes to life when they are asleep 🙃
