PLAZA’s vocalist Brad Lennard speaks to us about filming the band’s trippy music video for ‘BOLOSTITCHER’ by a drained reservoir that holds a lot of memories.

Where was ‘BOLOSTITCHER’ filmed?
The video was filmed in a drained reservoir behind my house.

How does the video connect with the song?
It doesn’t really connect directly, but I wrote the lyrics to the song sitting around the reservoir.
The reservoir has only very recently been drained and I’ve spent a lot of time hanging around there from being a kid, I thought it would look cool in a video.

Do you have any behind the scenes stories to share with us?
During the filming, the ground was still very soft in the middle, it was like quicksand. Joe Spence who does our filming and photography kept egging me on to go further into it and I walked into this part and lost one of my converse.

Could you tell us about the themes, ideas, imagery used?
We wanted to make the video a bit different to the previous videos. The area is nice and relaxed, we just went out one night in the summer and tried to capture some nice shots. The video wasn’t planned and we didn’t write a storyboard for it, we just went for a walk and hoped something would come of it.

Joe had quite a lot of freedom when it came to the editing, he’s great at what he does and always has a good eye for good shots.

Is there a message the video is trying to convey?
There isn’t a specific message that we tried to get across, as I said, I have spent a lot of time around this area growing up, I played there as a kid, drank there as a teenager, now I’ll go and have a walk around there or sit and chill. It’s nice quite place. It’s just somewhere that means a lot to me, hopefully you enjoy it.
