English singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Vaughan tries on a love affair that doesn’t quite fit on profound electronic pop single, ‘Isabella’.

Opening with ethereal Imogen Heap-esque vocal hums, Vaughan invites his listener into a classy yet otherworldly soundscape of shadowy, suspenseful synth textures. There’s a soulfulness and sincerity to his compelling, soaring vocal and reverent vocal layers as Vaughan explores the aching theme of not accepting your sexuality.

"When I was a teenager, I forced myself to fall in love with Isabella because I had this ideal that she was my last answer to not be gay. Isabella helped me finally face who I really am and I'll always be grateful to her for being that milestone. I’ve now learned that love comes from all places and directions and isn’t bound by physicality."

Vaughan cleverly weaves elemental textures through ‘Isabella’ as he evokes the wind and watery textures to represent the storm of emotions inside of him as he confesses “ I tried to love you Isabella…Isabella, you’re not my answer” with a grace and composure that accentuates the emotional impact of trying to shrink yourself to fit into a life that isn’t right for you. It’s a suffocating, confusing, scary and uncomfortable feeling that sadly many queer people can relate to, myself included.

VAUGHAN is the project of Thomas Harvey, an English singer/songwriter and ‘Isabella is the third song taken from his upcoming debut EP ‘I Am’ which looks set to be a vibrant and upbeat EP with natural poetic imagery that brims with beauty, confidence and self acceptance.
