Quiet Hollers - 'Loup (Hide It Away)'

Quiet Hollers tackle themes of duality and desire on funky werewolf-inspired single, ‘Loup (Hide It Away)’.

Born from an 8-bar loop of drums and guitar, ‘Loup’ (french for wolf) is a dreamy, groove inducing slice of indie rock that moves at a blissful, mellow pace, emitting warm, upbeat rays of soothing funk. It’s a stylish and sophisticated cut, recorded in the home studio of Quiet Hollers' singer-songwriter, Shadwick Wilde, who wrote the the lyrics of the song in a notebook next to a sketch of a musclebound wolf-man.

On the ideas behind the song, Wild explains; “The song is about duality and desire. Night versus day, animal versus human, etc... how we can stifle our nature only for so long, before who (or what) we truly are ultimately breaks through”.

Wilde brought his demo to producer Dave Chale (Low Cut Connie, Hayes Carll), who plays drums, synth, and guitar on the track, adding countermelodies and variations to the original 8-bar loop. Aaron West contributed some textural violin tracks to the song's instrumental breaks seeing Quiet Hollers deliver a rich and exuberant tune with primal sensuality to sink your teeth into.
