Sad Boys Club - 'Kukachu'

Sad Boys Club continue to solidify themselves as one of the capitals hottest young prospects, sprinkling hope over sadness in their new single ‘Kukachu’.

This quartet are ascending faster than most anticipated, refreshing a nostalgic 00’s indie-pop sound with a cinematic scale, garnering comparisons to The Cure and fans in the likes of Huw Stephens in foul swoop. The London band fully embody the DIY spirit, with ‘Kukachu’ along with the majority of their material being produced by bassist Pedro Caetano Leite which we can expect from their upcoming EP ‘Four Shades of the Transitional Phase’.

The end of 2019 is set to be a busy one for the band, with a number of support slots alongside Giant Rooks, Spector and SPINN all topped off by their biggest headline show at Colours Hoxton on December 7th to celebrate the release of their new EP. Like many listeners, my first exposure to Sad Boys Club was through the rousing ‘American Spirit’ and it’s safe to say they’ve hit it out of the park again with ‘Kukachu’.

The whole 3:29 of ‘Kukachu’ is an emotional rollercoaster for the listener, pulling you one way with solemn and sadness as you “lose yourself”. Sad Boys Club perfectly balance that sadness with glittery hopefulness that you may find something more “meaningful”, the earworm is certainly one that makes you want to come back for more and further builds excitement around the new EP and Sad Boys Club’s future.
