Inspired #73 - Sean Christopher
Dutch born Bristol based singer songwriter Sean Christopher has just released his new single ‘OHEJA’ through Dumont Dumont. He took a moment to talk to us about the track and the inspiration behind it.
Who are you top three musical inspirations?
I don't think I have a top three, there are many great musicians out there but if I have to name a few now it looks like this:
The Beatles are one of the grand pioneers of pop music, brilliant songwriters. I don't think we can thank them enough for what they did back then, sharing this whole new way of making music.
Radiohead is another example of a band that hit me from the moment I found out about them as a teenager. Also Thom his way of singing made me explore singing in general.
Jeff Buckley. A voice that draws you in, magic really.
Is there a certain film that inspires you?
All the time. Latest series that I saw gave me the chills; Chernobyl.
We're such a weird species! I tend to reflect a lot on what we are here for and what are doing to the planet, movies that trigger those feelings inspire me.
What city do you find the most inspiring?
I can probably only tell when I'm a hundred years old or when I'm at my final 'stop' hah, but Bristol has been inspiring the last three years. There is something about it, the pace, optimism, the buzz (and the coffee too by the way).
Who is the most inspiring person to you?
My family and friends, a bit more than one, but you know...they keep me going really! and all the environmentalists
What are the key inspirations behind the track?
My new single 'Oheja' is an ode to love, entirely about that feeling 'love' gives you.
How would you like to inspire people?
With my songs and a smile, loads of smiles actually. We need to keep smiling to inspire each other.
