The Artist Explains: Tasha Angela - 'Lost In Nostalgia'
Toronto based singer/songwriter Tasha Angela has released the visuals for her latest single ‘Lost In Nostalgia’, which is out now via Public Records Inc. It sees director angelicamilash inviting viewers to take a trip down memory lane, Tasha took a moment to discuss the track in more detail and the visuals behind it.
Your track ‘Lost in Nostalgia’ is out now, what is the track about?
Lost In Nostalgia is about reminiscing on the past and having wistful memories and desires to go back to when things were at a different period in my life. It's not about a particular moment but rather many moments wrapped into one.
Your sound has a vintage r&b and soul vibe to it, who are your key musical inspirations?
I grew up on Alicia Keys, Lauren Hill, Sade, India Arie, Micheal Jackson etc. They all play a big role in how I create today musically.
The visuals for a the track takes us all on a trip down memory lane, what are your earliest musical memories?
I remember being forced to go to piano class which I didn't enjoy at the time but I grew to love it. I can also remember dancing at school recitals and loving the creative aspect of it as well as getting friends involved.
Where was the video filmed? Any behind the scenes stories you are happy to share with us?
The video was filmed at Neb's Fun World in Oshawa. Some behind the scenes moments that I'll never forget was learning how to roller skate in a short period of time for the shot. Nobody fell which was great but there were times where we came close. I also enjoyed the fact that there were different age groups on set. It inspired the young ones to want to be apart of this in the future which feels like a full circle moment because I remember feeling that way when I was younger.
How do you feel the video connects to the track?
The video connects to the track by showing images of how being lost In nostalgia can make you feel. It was meant to have a dreamy feel as well as different age groups representing my life stages.
Now that the track and video are out there, what next? What are your plans for the next few months?
I am set to release my debut EP " Hidden Gems " but first my second single "Undescribable Feeling" will be released along with a music video very soon.
